Defensible, Useful Descriptions of Work
The goal of "common-metric" job analysis is to describe work using a standardized list of general work activites (GWAs). This allows you to compare jobs that differ in terms of their tasks.
For many personnel applications, the ability to draw meaningful, level-sensitive comparisons between task-dissimilar jobs is essential. These include functions as diverse as developing compensation systems, assessing work similarity to assign job titles or for career guidance, estimating worker requirements, and identifying occupations that workers with disabilities can perform.
