CMQ for Work Description

> One of the most basic uses of job analysis information is to prepare a summary description of a job's activities. Ideally, this will include an assessment of the within-title variability that is present.

Even if you're analyzing only a single position — or you're an individual using the CMQ for career-guidance — it's also useful to get a big-picture view of work by examining the abstract work dimensions.

Multi-Level Job Descriptions

CMQ rates general work activites (GWAs) that are abstract enough to allow cross-job comparisons, but detailed enough to be objectively rated and verified. CMQ also profiles jobs at the more abstract work dimension level by deriving multiple-item scales by combining GWA item ratings.

Profile Matching

To address job-title assignment and career-guidance questions, CMQ job descriptions search hundreds of occupations in our national database to identify ones that have the most similar profiles of work dimension scores.

Within-Title Variability

When multiple workers or positions hold a job, they often vary in the activities they perform. Large levels of true within-title variability can cause problems with respect to forming accurate descriptions, and making defensible decisions based on them.
